Question

Creating shortcuts when migrating entries

asked on March 18, 2015

So I've been able to create a little workflow that searches a particular folder for any record folders, and using Route Entry to Folder, create shortcuts to each of these items in a new location in the same repository.  Now, I know we can use the Replicate Entries activity to route items to a new location in a different repository, however there doesn't appear to be an option to create shortcuts instead.

Might there be a way to build in creating shortcuts when migrating documents, or might I have to create shortcuts in the same repository, and then migrate these over instead?

Any suggestions appreciated as always, thanks!

That's not possible. Shortcuts are limited to entries in the same repository.

I'm not sure I'm reading this right. Are you saying you want to have shortcuts in repository B pointing to documents in repository A? Or are you saying that when you copy the documents from repo A to repo B with Replicate Entries, the shortcuts are not included as part of the entries transfered over?

I just want to create shortcuts in a folder in repository B pointing to the original folder in repository A (to minimize the possibility of duplicates between repositories).

Thanks much! :)
