Question

configure Ldap for authenticated participants

asked on March 17, 2015

I have just upgraded forms to 9.2.1.1069.  I would like to configure LDAP to use my AD groups.  What is the syntax to add an AD Group? I can get the group to show up by adding the Distinguished Name of the group. However, licenses are not assigned.

I can add users via the User OU.  however, I have many User OUs and thousands of users.  I need to use AD groups.

You cannot currently assign licenses based on an AD Group, you can only assign Access Rights to a form.

maybe I am asking this wrong.  I need to assign Authenticated user licenses to users in AD.  The participants tab in System Security have a field with a drop down containing Users Only, all users and groups, and groups only.  it appears the intent was to allow AD groups.  What is the point of displaying AD groups if they cannot be used?

I know what you mean, but my previous post still applies. AD Groups can currently only be used to assign Access Rights to a process and cannot be used to assign licenses.

thanks, not being able to use AD groups will cause a lot of additional overhead but at least I can quit looking!  Thanks again

This idea is currently being looked into, but when it would be available I do not know.

You can allocate license to all the users within a group by selecting the group and click "Allocate license" button from toolbar.

We did try the button.  The license counts displayed to the left did not change.  will the license counts correctly display the assigned licenses?

we must be missing something.  the group is listed, the button pushed, no licenses were assigned.

I have  a group with one member.  Forms System Security recognizes the group.  I have 43 licenses assigned elsewhere.  the number does not change when I select "allocate license".  The user is not able to log into the Forms Inbox.  What am I missing?

Hi there,

Please open a support case with your reseller. It would be helpful if you could provide some error logs if there are any so we can further investigate them.

Thanks

Our conclusion was that the feature was never designed to "sync" with an AD group, hence the -- character assigned to the license column.

It was only designed to allocate licenses for everyone in the group on demand.

Hi Chad,

Forms LDAP/AD group can be used to assign license to users. Can you check whether there's any error in your event viewer? If you cannot find the error. Please file a support ticket.
