Question

Is Laserfiche 9.2.1 VERS-Certified?

asked on March 16, 2015

I've been asked the following questions about VERS (Victorian Electronic Records Strategy) Certification of Laserfiche 9.2.1:

"Is Laserfiche 9.2.1 currently VERS-Certified?  If not, is it currently in the process of being certified against the VERS standard and if so, when do you expect it to be certified?"

I know that earlier versions of Laserfiche have been VERS-Certified but I'm unfamiliar with the certification requirements and whether or not each new iteration of the software needs to be re-certified.

Any help greatly appreciated!

PROV does not require re-certification for each release of the software, so every Laserfiche version since 8.2 has been certified compliant.  Also, PROV is working on a new version of the VERS specification, but my understanding is that previously-certified software will not have to be re-tested.

Is there a detailed statement aganist each element of the standard that describes how Laserfiche complies?

That sort of documentation wasn't required for the certification.  It's been a long time since I looked at the VERS spec, but my recollection is that most of the requirements are satisfied using Laserfiche features in the obvious way.  Some do rely on less well-known features (Classification Levels and Volume Checksums come to mind).

Hi I have a question about Laserfiche's ability to import and export VEOs.  I understood that the VERS standard requires compliant products to be able to import and export data and metadata in the VEO format.  Is Laserfiche able to do this?

regards

Peter
