Utility Request: LFConnectivityCheck to check status of network ports for LF products

posted on March 13, 2015

Hello,

I have been lately working with many Banks and Universities where, for security reasons, the Network traffic is hardly controlled. In many cases we have faced issues with Laserfiche due to ports closed between clients and server, SQL server, Active Directory, Workflow, Webaccess, License Manager, Activation server, etc.

Is it possible that Laserfiche provides us with a tool to facilitate this job?

My suggestion is a kind of LFConnectivityCheck utility, where we can specify the 2 endpoints and generates a report of the ports that are not available, or other connectivity issues for different products and versions (LF 7 is different than 9). It could test all the ports being used by LF one shot.

This will help to prevent problems during implementation, to prove to the client that the problem is not with Laserfiche, etc.

Honestly I think that such a tool would be useful for all the VAR community.

Thank you for your attention and best regards,

It'd be straightforward to write a PowerShell script to check this. This is something we can put on our to-do list, certainly. Thank you for the suggestion.
