Question

Moving Weblink Config Files

asked on March 13, 2015

I will be moving and upgrading a customers Weblink to a new Web/Laserfiche server. What is the proper procedure in moving the Weblink configuration files to retain all customized search forms that have been created to the new server? Thanks in advance.

The procedure should entail the following steps...

First, use the Settings Bundler to export your WebLink 8 settings to a folder. Then, before you import them into WebLink 9, I would suggest also exporting the WebLink 9 default settings to a different folder so you have an easy way to revert back in case anything doesn't transfer over well. Then, it should be as easy as importing the WebLink 8 bundle into 9.

For both WebLink 8 and 9, the Settings Bundler can be found in the utilities folder.

There's a WebLink customization bundler utility that gets installed with the product. The proper procedure is to use that to bundle up your configurations on the original machine, and then apply them on the new one.

OK, so export the existing settings (folders/files) ... then import them to the new server moving the folders/files to their proper locations?
