Anyone want to chime in on any of these?
The client went with the Fujitsu fi-7160 and is in love with them. They did give us a bit of trouble working with ScanConnect but nothing we couldn't handle. Been running great since they started using them.
We currently use the Kodak i2600. Biggest issue is the scanning quality is not as good as expected, especially with color scans.
We recently purchased the Fujitsu fi-7160 but have been unable to get Laserfiche 9.0.1.610 to recognize the Fujitsu scanner.
I have 1 issue with the Kodak and 1 issue with the Fujitsu. Both are not deal breakers, but nuisances that can be avoided. I have no experience with the Epson.
For the Kodak, since ScanConnect 8, the ISIS driver setting for Binariazation does not hold and must be manually set to Dynamic Thresholding each time you open scanning if you want the best quality images.
For the Fujitsu, they recently changed from including Kofax to their own capture product and redesigned their driver. The new driver does work with ScanConnect, but it is temperamental.
We haven't used any of these specific models, but have used the cheaper Epson model DS-510. We have had 7 of these in production for the past 12+ months without issue. We have used these for both paper documents as well as ID's such as a drivers license. I looked at the fi-7160, we have 2 fi-6770 and 2 fi-7260 for our large format scanners, but after testing the Epson model, decided that there wasn't noticeable difference in performance or features that would warrant the higher cost of the 7160.
Hi Gelnn, Are things still going well with your Epson scanners? Are you using ScanConnect with the ISIS driver or TWAIN? I'd love to use an Epson DS-520 that I've tested with but have had lots of problems with the ISIS and ScanConnect (settings don't save properly and even seem to multiply with each scan session... weird stuff). Feedback or tips would be appreciated.
