Question

Toolkit 8.0 and LF 9.2

asked on March 9, 2015

We have a few applications using toolkit 8.0. Will we need to upgrade the code to use the latest SDK 9.2 when the Laserfiche server is upgraded to 9.2?

No, the server is backwards compatible with older versions of the SDK.

Thanks for the reply Miruna. Can we install Toolkit 8.0 along with SDK 9.2 on the same application server?

We may have some applications using Toolkit 8.0 and newer applications that will be using SDK 9.2.

You can just use the SDK 9.2 runtime. The latest patched version of LFSO80 is still included.

Thanks for this information Justin.

I should probably note that the 9.2 SDK runtime does not include Document Processor 80, as we are no longer licensed to deploy some dependencies of it. So this won't help if you use DocProc. If you are just using LfSO, this isn't a concern.

Thanks for the additional note Justin. So if we are suing DocProc 80, should we install both Toolkit 8.0 and SDK 9.2?

Yes that should work. I believe the 9.2 SDK will still update lfso80 to the latest patched version in that case as well. I'd recommend running a test of installing both run-time installations and then ensuring that uninstalling one doesn't break the other - that shouldn't be an issue, but it's not something I've specifically tried.

Thanks for this information Justin. We will run the test that you suggested.
