Does Import Agent come with a Named User License?

posted on February 26, 2015

Import Agent requires a named user license during installation. Does it not come with one? How can it be sold without one? Are we configuring it incorrectly? Many customers are resorting to using the admin account because they can't find the license for Import Agent.

What's the exact version of Import Agent being used? I tested Import Agent 9 and confirmed that my profiles can be configured with a Laserfiche user account that is not a named user and the profiles will work fine.

Oh, I see what your saying, the 9.0 version released in June does not require a named user license. That means if our customers upgrade they no longer have to pay the LSAP for a user license. That is a pretty big savings.

Chad

You need to be very careful with that statement.  Laserfiche has a policy that they do not allow licensing reductions, so you may find it hard to deliver that savings if you have already promised it.

It asks for a user account with a named license when we setup the profile to import.

The Import Agent service user hasn't required a named user license since version 8.1. Have you confirmed the user that you configure on the service actually requires that a named user license is allocated to them?
