Question

Search for folder name on the same window

asked on February 24, 2015

Hi,

Whenever I search in LF Client 9.1 for a folder name, I find the folder and when I open it with double click. It opens a new window. In the new window it then navigates to the folder I just found.

Is there any way I can avoid this and just show whatever is inside the folder on the same window?
Thanks

Gian

Hey Gian,

When opening a folder found from a search, the default operation (as you have found) is to open that folder within a new window; that way if you want to revert back to the search, all you have to do is close the window. Currently there isn't an option to open the folder within the same window, but I will pass the request on to the developers!

Thanks Jason.

The reason I need it is because we have a huge list of folders on the same repository level.

When the new windows opens, it "browses" to the searched folder. And is taking quite a few seconds to do that.

We had a user report this same issue. The best workaround we found was to check the "save pane layout" from from client's settings (under browser>settings), then close the Folders pane on the client. After the client is closed an re-opened, search result will still open in a new window, but it does not to expand the folders, since the Folders pane is now suppressed. This has a dramatic impact on performance when opening a search results for folders that have a large number of folders.
