Upload button not working in Production environment

asked on February 24, 2015 Show version history

I have a bit of an odd one...

We have a rule set up that routes https://forms.domain.com to our main Laserfiche server, specifically http://servername/Forms.   When I go to http://servername/Forms,  access any form, and try to use the upload feature, it works fine, where the upload window will come up when clicked, or the upload feature changes if a file is clicked and dragged to that section of the page.

However, when I go to https://forms.domain.com,  and access the exact same forms in the exact same way, the upload button doesn't work at all, and if I try to click and drag an image onto that page (over the Upload button), the page simply switches to display the image.

So I have two theories as to what might be going on here:

1) The Upload functionality within the form is referenced by relative links (which would be broken with the redirection that's done above), or

2) The features are somewhat limited when https/SSL is used.

Any thoughts as to why these features would be available in one form and not another?  Please let me know when you get the chance - thanks!

We are currently using https with our Forms implementation and do not have this issue, so I do not believe it is related to your second suggestion. I would think it has to do with something closer with your first suggestion. There are several posts in Answers that talk about how Forms is only supported by using http(s)://formsserver/forms.

File upload field supports both http and https. Did you use same browser for testing? What browser are you using and what's the version of it?  When you say "upload button doesn't work at all", do you mean there is no response when you click the button? Can you take a video with this tool http://www.techsmith.com/jing.html and share with us so we can do further troubleshooting?

Hey Blake, that was exactly right.  By changing https://<sitename> to point to http://<laserficheserver>/ instead of http://<laserficheserver>/Forms (and changing everywhere where the page and/or external code was referenced to match), we were able to fix the following:

1) The Upload button and its functionality

2) Any images referenced directly from the form

3) The reCAPTCHA image, anywhere it was used/referenced

I'm also thinking of doing the same thing with Web Access (i.e. having https://<sitename> point to http://<laserficheserver>/ instead of http://<laserficheserver>/laserfiche), as I think this is affecting the functionality of the DocuSign feature.

Thanks for your assistance!
