Question

sql database version

asked on February 23, 2015

Hi, we are in the process of updating our servers, currently Laserfiche runs on a 2008 sql database.

We are on RIO and have around 300 active workflows with an average of 4000 instances per day and 4 different repositories. Does installing a more recent sql version like 2012 or 2013 make a noticeable or any performance improvement?

Do you recommend to upgrade based on our laserfiche workload?

Kindly let me know.

Thank you and regards,

Vincenzo Minino.

I don't know if it would make a noticeable difference in performance, but in the long run it would keep you up to date with SQL Server longer.

Hi Vincenzo,

Do you notice any performance issues? Perhaps just some good ole fashioned performance tuning is required.

There's a number of resources that imply that there are benefits with 2014 but that depends on what benefits are required. Getting the best out of 2014 requires performance tuning knowledge as well, from what I've read.

As far as I know, Laserfiche has been tuned for SQL 2005 and above so required specialist knowledge to improve on.

It's not exactly a No but If I were you, I wouldn't just install and hope for the best. Perhaps you have a test environment and can check?
