audit cant load data

There was a date range in audit trail starting at 1/4/14. When we tried to add an earlier date range it said that range was status=completed but when we went to do an audit it only showed available range for 1/4/

 

1. I restarted audit service and added the earlier date range again. at first it said "failed" by that status. I refreshed the page and it reloaded the data and changed to "completed" however it now said data unavailable in audit trail. 

2. After another refresh the data available changed back to the original 1/4/14 even though I had removed that date range. 

 

Troubleshooting:

What should I be looking for here? DB connection?

The first thing to check would be the application event log on the Audit Trail web server. See if there are any errors reported relating to the importing of the audit data from certain binary audit log files.

Also, what SQL instance is being used by the Audit Trail database? If it's a current version of SQL Express, then the database will have a 10 GB limit. Make sure that isn't what's happening here.

If that isn't the case, then can you confirm the binary audit log files are actually present in the repository's AUDIT folder and do go back to January 2014?
