Question

workflow http error 500 starting business process

asked on February 12, 2015

Workflow started giving us this error today for an install on windows 2008 r2 sp1 server.

HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error
The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid.

The web page http://localhost/workflow has an error about a problem with the web config.

Error Code: 0x80070032
Config Error: The configuration section 'standardEndpoints' cannot be read because it is missing a section declaration

Does anyone have an idea what is going on?

I found this kb article but it is for 2008 server not R2.

Thanks

Hi Andrew,

What is the exact version of Workflow server you are using? Please go to IIS and make sure that the WorkflowWebServicesAppPool is configured to use .NET Framework 4.0.

Hope that helps!

Open up your Workflow Configuration Manager and check if Workflow Web Services is installed/configured.  If its not, then run the workflow installation again and select the component.

Thanks Xiaoxiao Yan I checked the WorkflowWebServicesAppPool and it was set to version 2.0 any idea why this would change on a production machine?

Updates are set to download only so the admins can choose when to install.
