I have a customer that has 100,000+ documents in records management and they've found that a bunch are rotated incorrectly. They have users that they want to be able to rotate pages in a document without having the ability to modify the document (add, reorganize, or remove pages). They can rotate it when they view it but it will not let them save the rotations. It seems this permission should not be tied with being able to add/edit/remove pages from a document as this just changes how you view a document and does not change the document. Is there a way to grant them this permission without the ability to add/edit/remove pages?

Hi Beau,
I'm guessing not as a page rotation would technically be classed as a page 'edit'. If it helps you could potentially use Quick Fields or Photodocs running as an admin user to run through the documents and make sure they are all correctly rotated therefore eliminating the need for users to have to do this? Just an idea.
Hope this helps!

I don't anticipate this being changed - as Chris notes, this really is modifying the document. You or I might see it as meaningless changes, but the Server is pretty specific about what is and isn't a modification. This also might start tying into licensing questions as well, if we make the distinction more granular. Honestly, being able to rotate at view time is already a bit of a compromise - originally it wasn't provided since you couldn't save, but it became clear that it was useful even without the ability to save in the first place. I do agree that processing the documents themselves would be the best option.
Thanks, Chris. I had started through it using PhotoDocs to resolve the issue, however the users want this ability themselves. I'm hoping a future version will allow this without edit rights. Thanks for the suggestions.
I agree with y'all's answer, just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something or that a change might be coming. Thanks for the help.
