Can a form collect local user info for a form field?

If they authenticated into forms with their AD account the username token under current user is available.

Otherwise there exists an option using javascript & ActiveX as described in this article but it only works in IE.

In general this is security issue where handling with JavaScript appears to be undesirable and unsupported.
