Question

LF forms on separate server ?

asked on February 6, 2015 Show version history

Wondering if we can have LF forms on it's on entirely separate server/VM or do we need to have Forms installed with other services/website etc. etc. This separate server we can have separate dns entry and public facing ip, we were hoping to have something like forms.ourdomain.com as the url to where we publish all the forms.

Want to know if there are any restriction/limitation of having LF forms as its own separate entity ?

Cheers

Forms can be installed on its own server, it does not need to be on the same machine as the Laserfiche Server or Web Access.

Excellent, any features and future expansions of Forms will not require any sort of "forms needs to be installed where xyz product is installed" situations ! We are starting to develop our forms and since our company website hosts bunch of other applications wanted to keep forms separate.

Question here is if we want to tie in to these forms from our website pass calls etc. etc. (we will probably be building a template on the form that looks like our company site) won't be a hassle or concern. I am not sure what was a point that was mentioned to us when we purchased Forms regarding forms "need to be on same server as company's website server".

Laserfiche products are independent of each other when it comes to installation in order to allow scaling out for better performance. Forms has no knowledge of your company's website server as such, it only cares if the machine you install it on meets its system requirements.

That's good, most of our LF components are their own servers makes it bit harder for backup process but helps with troubleshooting.

Support guys say talk to folks here at answers. So any suggestions/ideas maybe a future release planned for this feature ? Not everyone would want to have abc.com/forms as the forms publish path some like we would want to see abc.com only as the publish path on that separate server for the forms.
