Question

How can I mass export laserfiche documents

asked on February 3, 2015

We need to mass export all laserfiche files to a hard-drive so we can copy them to google drive. How can this be accomplished without exporting each document separately. We have close to 30K documents.

You could also use Export Folder Contents. This will export everything in the folder (recursive) along with metadata in csv.

Do you need the files to be readable without LF or are you doing this simply to back up the files?

You can select all of the documents that you are wanting to export and then select File>Export>Images. With 30K images you may want to break them up some and do them in batches.

You won't have any of the document metadata if you export them this way. Is that a concern?

Was this functionality taken away from 10.0?  When Exporting Folder Contents, it only provides the OCR text.

This didn't change in 10. The Export Folder Contents command should export the images, text and edoc portions.

what about the metadata in csv format associated with the downloaded images?

I think what you are looking for is Export List Contents, with the fields you are interested in added as columns to be included in the report. As far as I know, export folder contents never included the fields values.

Okay, thank you - I was just going off of Justin Pava's answer to the post, he mentioned it did.

Hi there, where is Export List Contents option in LF 10.2? I have a similar question, we are trying to download all the documents with metadata into a storage drive. I tried two ways of downloading the documents 1. download contents by right click on the folder and select Download Contents... 2. File->Download->Folder Contents. Both of them exported documents with metadata in a separate text file. The exported documents only contains the first page in each document(failed to export the second page onwards). Any idea to efficiently export the documents with metadata? Anyone has java sdk code to do this? thanks a lot.
