Laserfiche volume server running out of RAM?

posted on January 31, 2015

For any of you with your volumes on a fileshare on a server 2008 R2 or earlier...

We were having a problem with the Windows Metafile taking up all available RAM for caching.

I suspect that Laserfiche servers with many volumes on them are especially vulnerable to this particular issue since we have millions of files there.

It seems this  is a bug/feature Microsoft knows about : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976618

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=9258

Eventually everything will slow down on the server due to lack of resources.  Adding lots more RAM didn't seem to help - it would just increase the time it took to fill the RAM.

Anyone else seen this, or just us?

The cache service I linked above seems to be a fix, or at least a band-aid.

This is usually a Windows issue:

Our Support team has run into this issue in the past. The best course of action is to work with your reseller, who can open up a case with us. Together they'll be able to pin down what's causing it and resolve it.
