Office creates those when you open documents regardless of whether WebDAV is used or not.
Please don't post the same question in multiple threads.
Sorry for posting on multiple threads.
I was desperate for the answer ..... Yes office creates those temp file..
1. $ temp file shouldn't be visible
2. even if its visible once you closed the document temp document should disappear.. why its not happening.
Also this issue is only on excel files .. not on other Microsoft office applications.
The temp files are visible if you have the Windows Explorer option to show hidden files on.
As it's been mentioned in this thread, they're not controlled by Laserfiche, it's something internal to Office. So you might get a better answer on an Office forum.
That's the temporary copy of the file Office generates for auto-recovery. It has nothing to do with WebDAV or even Laserfiche. Start editing a Word doc locally on your computer and you'll see the exact same thing.
Yes. but once you close the document temp file should disappear right.
each document I open its creating a temp file so now I have a list of temp documents in each folders.
but then if I am working from laserfiche client this this is ok. no temp file to be visible or stored. only when working on WEBDAV
When you open an Office document with the Laserfiche client, it copies the file to your local temp directory and opens it from there. Most of the Office applications will create a temp file there, but users generally won't see it because they don't have an Explorer window open to that location. With WebDAV, the whole point is that the application communicates directly with the Laserfiche server without making a local copy. Unfortunately, Office will treat this location as a working directory and create its temp files there.
Brian thanks for the information. I think this what happening...
During this period I was trying to do something to resolve this .. I found out that if you provide delete permission to users this is not happening.
but I cant do this since we have an policy not to provide any usres DELETE option.
can you provide me solution for this ?
This worked for me
