Feature Request: More Visual User Task Priority Notification

asked on January 27, 2015 Show version history

Currently in Forms 9.2.0, when you set a priority on a User Task, in the Pending Tasks area of the Inbox, it puts a thin red line to the left of the task. Our users are finding that the urgent tasks are not sticking out to them enough and would like something a little more visually eye catching instead. For instance, a red exclamation point or highlighting the entire row.

Hi there,

Thanks for your feedback. We'll improve this in future version of Forms.

I've been thinking about this request and highlighting the entire row might be a little much, but possibly bolding the item and changing the text color to match the priority color would work great. It would be similar to how Outlook currently displays new items.

Is this any better (ignoring my non-descriptive task names)?

Hi Blake,

We are thinking about your feature request as we make updates to the inbox for our next version. In the future, tasks will also have a Due Date attribute that can be used to help prioritize.

I was wondering if you have any thoughts on how you would use Priority and Due Date? Would you use them together, or just one? Is there one that should be more emphasized to users?

Let me know what you think!

For us, I would see us using both in certain situations. For example, in our hiring process, we have some cases where a specific submission at our Payroll setup user task is more important than another, such as a principal or director that has been hired so they can get started.

The principal or director being hired would trump any normal employee at that step. Because of that I would want to set a due date still, but also set it with a High priority level. I think that if there are both set, that the prioritization should be more prominent.
