Question

Permission changing from 9.1 to 9.2

asked on January 27, 2015

I recently did an upgrade for a customer from version 9.1 to version 9.2. The access rights on the folders did not change though the view for the users did change. They were able to see the entire folder structure for the repository. Unfortunately I cannot provide screen captures or video of this due to their in-house IT being notified and changing the permissions on the folders. This was for folders that had an implicit deny instead of an explicit one. I was wondering if this happened to anyone else recently.

It should not have changed, but I would start by checking the LF everyone group permissions to see if the Bypass Browse privilege  is checked.

I checked this and it was not the case.

This shouldn't have happened--upgrades won't change the permissions of your users or folders. My guess is that something happened to your database, though without more details it's hard to say. Support hasn't run into any issues along these lines (regardless of the version of Laserfiche), but if you see it happen again, please open up a case with them so we can track down the issue.

Will do. Unfortunately the customers IT changed permissions when this happened to make sure the access rights were reflected correctly. I will try to make a case and investigate prior to any changes being made so I can have a concrete support case.
