Question

LFDS Active directory syncing

asked on January 22, 2015

we recently migrated from License Manager to LFDS.  we had some previously documented issues that required a hotfix.  The hotfix was applied yesterday without incident and the issues applicable before the hotfix were fixed.

I have added Organizations to the mix and now my AD syncing is not working.  I created a few Orgs proceeded with the configuration link the AD groups, assigning licenses, and assigning rule to the Org.  All went well in testing.  I configured the remainder of the groups and organizations.  Now users are not added or removed with a sync. it should be noted I have about 15 orgs and corresponding AD group rules.

Where do I start?  I am about ready to blast out all my groups and orgs.  reconfigure all of them.

It sounds like AD sync was working for you, then after adding a few more rules, it is not. If this is correct, I would recommend removing the newly added rules one-by-one to determine which one is the problem rule.

It's worth noting that for AD sync, if one of the rules is not a valid rule, none of the rules will be applied. This is because the AD sync tool first compiles all of the rules together, then checks for validity (e.g., are there enough licenses) then runs the rules.
