Question

Web Access: just show search results folder without navigation pane

asked on January 21, 2015

Hello:

I am using a custom URL to pull up search results in Web Access.

Basically, I pass in the folder path via a URL and it retrieves all of the underlying folders so end users can open the correct one and select files.

My question:  I am using the view=search  attribute.  Is there another attribute that will show me just the i-frame containing my search results (i.e the folders that are in the path I specify in the Search query) vs. showing me that with the folder browser navigation pane at left ?

Thanks in advance.

There are ways to hide the left pane, but not through URL attributes. For instance, you can hide it using CSS, but that will hide it for all your users, including users who access Web Access normally (going to Web Access directly vs. being linked there via another site). That may or may not be acceptable depending on how your customer uses Web Access.

Why do you want to hide the folder pane in the first place? If you don't want users to see the folder structure above the folder you link to, you can use the view=newroot attribute.

Chris,

Were you able to make it working? We are facing similar type of challenge where we do not want the users access the folder navigation pane on the left in web access when they are redirected from an external url.

We tried the view=newroot attribute but it did not worked.

We ended up making some changes in the Styles.css file and index.aspx file to auto-hide the left folder navigation pane in web access.
