Question

Use Template Field as Token In Quickfields

asked on January 20, 2015

Is there a way to (when using the Laserfiche Capture Engine) to have the meta data fields of the documents coming in be used as tokens? For example, the input document has the field for invoice number entered. I want to use Quick fields to do a lookup based on the invoice number, and return the rest of the information on the Excel file and auto fill the rest of the template fields. Is this possible using quick fields or should I investigate using Workflow?

You need to set Capture Engine to retrieve the field data along with the documents.

If you set a template filter in Capture Engine, Quick Fields will expose the fields from it as tokens, so you will be able to pick them from the token list. If you don't have the template filter set, you can still use the tokens, but you will manually have to type them in. The syntax for a token generated by Capture Engine is %(Field.FieldName).
