Question

PhotoDocs - Image Editor - Manually Straighten - Fails

asked on January 16, 2015

I have a client that takes pictures of large maps using a DSLR camera and then imports them into Laserfiche.  But before doing so, he likes to use the straighten function to get rid of everything except the map.  In version 8.3 this worked like a charm.  However, since upgrading to 9.2.0.472 the straighten function always fails with a message Failed to crop image. [PD20-161]

Using the manual crop will work a bit, but that tool doesn't offer the level of precision with the angles we need to crop at.  And even that function will only seem to work so far.  It's as though the program is telling us it can't crop/straighten past a certain point, which defeats the whole purpose of having a "manual" mode to do this.

Is there something I am missing?  Is there something else I need to do to get this to work.  As I mentioned, this was never a problem with v8 of Laserfiche.   Thanks in advance.

A hotfix has been released for this issue, although it would require an upgrade to PhotoDocs 9.2.1 first. Please see KB 1013676

The issue has been filed as a bug on our end.  You should talk to your VAR and have him open a case.

Please revert PhotoDocs back to version 9.0.3. Note that you can keep the rest of the Client components at version 9.2.

  1. Modify/Change the Laserfiche 9.2 Client Suite and remove the PhotoDocs component
  2. Download the Laserfiche Avante 9.0.3 package from the Laserfiche Support Site (please contact your reseller if you need assistance with this).
  3. Browse the installation files and in the Client folder, manually install lfphotodocs_en.msi

At this point you can use PhotoDocs 9.0.3 with Client 9.2 and the manual straightening process will work again.

Hi Alexander - thanks for this, just got around to testing out your fix and can confirm it works perfectly now. Just to reiterate, I now have all LF Client components at 9.2.1.562, except for PhotoDocs, which is at version 9.0.3.798.

Cheers,

Hi all,

This issue appears to have been reintroduced by upgrading to version 10. The above hotfix also no longer works; I also can't seem to get the original workaround (installing older version of PhotoDocs) to work.

Any update on this please?

Thanks!

Duncan,

Can you try uninstalling the Laserfiche 10 Client Suite. Then delete the C:\Program Files (x86)\Laserfiche\Client folder (or C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Client if using a 32-bit version of Windows). Then reinstall the Laserfiche 10 Client Suite and see if there's still an issue?

Regards
