Hello Leonard,

It looks like, from this article, that Peak Performance Imaging Solutions has done this before! I suggest speaking to your District Manager if you would like to speak with them reguarding how to implement this.

It looks like PaperVision uses a SQL backend, so you should be able to use Workflow to migrate any data stored within that database, into the new Laserfiche system.

I hope this helps!

This link does not work, is there any other resources that would be helpful?

So I actually migrated a clients data from Papervision.  You have to export the data groups from the Admin console as well as create your own view from the SQL backend in order to migrate the metadata.  Be sure you had ADMIN rights as you have to queue up the migration tasks as a job, then start the job in the maintenance work queue.  During the migration process,  it will ask you the size of the migration.  You'll want to make this as large as possible to compensate for larger data groups based on how the groups were originally configured.

Let me know if you need some more help as I had to learn it all on my own after looking through the clients application.

You would highlight the data groups you want to export and select "Submit for Migration".  It  is a good idea to document the data groups you are going to export as sometimes the name is not the same when you see them later.

From here you will go to the "Global Administration" tab and find the jobs you submitted.  Double click the job and set the "New Data Group" to something you would remember that would match the original name.  You are limited to I think 8 characters in this field so you have to be creative.  This is where your documentation of the data groups would help so you can create a mapping of the names.  The next option is where you set the size.  I typically would put 3500 because my client sometimes had more than 3 gigs in one data group,  but rarely ever went over.  You can check the properties of each group somewhere but I forgot.   This is essentially the max size of the migration you want to do, so if the data group is larger than what you set, it will ONLY  export UP TO that amount.  Then press run.

Once it's finished, you should be able to find the exported documents under the PaperVision document folder.  You might have to search around for this as it is configured by the admin who set up the application originally.

is there any way to find the path that the files are exported to? and is each data group like a volume?

do you know what tables we need to pull info from so that we can point LF to that table to match with the document?

This is extremely old, but did you ever end up getting a response as to how to convert Papervision to LF?

Also extremely old post but since someone just got referred to us - Bluelake Software also performs Papervision (and many other) data migrations at an affordable price for resellers - www.bluelake.com.
