Where did Public Portal Licensing go in version 9.2?

posted on December 22, 2014

In version 9.2 there is no public portal licensing listed in the license summary. What happened to this? We were using it in 9.1 for Weblink.

It is intermittent, it shows up now. There is no way to explain it. I have been told that the lf.licx files are only used during uninstall of the products. What does the lf.licx file do?

Here is what it looks like in directory server, it is assigned, but even if it was not, it was not showing at all and now it is.

The lf.licx file is the license file for Laserfiche software. For the Laserfiche Server, this file needs to be present in the Laserfiche Server installation directory. It is read during Laserfiche Server startup. One thing to make sure of is that you do not have multiple .licx files in the folder.

Ok, I suspected that for a long time now. I just heard that it was only required for automatic deactivation when the product is installed and that is why by default when activating with activationtool.exe there is no lf.licx created (you have to specify if you want to create one).

In my screenshot above there is no Public Portal Processors Assigned text. It is gone entirely. I have the same version as you. Why is my view different?

I do have it assigned in directory server, but I don't even see public portal as an option in LF 9.2

Can you provide a screenshot of what you see in Directory Server? If the Public Portal is listed as being assigned to your specific Laserfiche Server application instance (for bcvm-docmgr-02) then try generating a new license file and then replace it on the actual Laserfiche Server computer and restart the Laserfiche Server service.

Did you re-register the Laserfiche Server application instance in License Manager or Directory Server? Can you confirm this specific Laserfiche Server has the Public Portal assigned to it? If it's not assigned to this server, then using Directory Server, you can edit the server application instance to assign Public Portal to it and then generate a new license file. Then replace the old server license with the new one and restart the Laserfiche Server service.
