Question

Production Environment/Offline Environment and How it Affects LF Forms Reporting on Current Processes

asked on December 19, 2014

I have an inquiry in regards to setting up a Production Environment and an Offline Environment (in which I can make changes to certain processes and test them without affecting any current processes).

If we were to implement this environment and I made changes to a current business process in Laserfiche Forms and then published it to the Production Environment, would it keep the currently running process and the action history of each of those processes?

Appreciate any feedback.

Thank you,

Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,

The answer to your question depends on how exactly you plan on transferring business processes from your offline environment to your production environment, and whether the running processes you're referring to are from the offline environment, or the production environment.

If you export the business process as XML from your offline environment and import it in the production environment, you will create an entirely new process in the prod system.  It will not overwrite any previous versions of the process, and it will not include process data from the offline system.

If, rather than exporting your process from the offline environment, you manually modify the existing process in the prod environment, all your existing prod forms and their history will be maintained.
