Question

OCR settings not appearing in Options

asked on December 18, 2014

Have an issue where a user receives an error (Loading the OCR engine failed) when trying to import docs into the Laserfiche 9.1 Client.  She has the feature rights to Process OCR.  Looking at Options in the client, all OCR engine options are blank.  What could cause this?

OmniPage OCR is a separate installation. Please make sure that's what you repaired. If the repair didn't work, then try uninstalling the OCR engine and reinstall it.

Can you try repairing the OmniPage OCR installation or maybe uninstall and reinstall it? See if that addresses the matter.

I performed a Repair on the Laserfiche Client, that didn't fix the issue.  Is there another way to repair the OmniPage OCR installation?

After repairing the Client, is there an OCR engine in that drop-down list (even if not selected by default)?

That was it, 9.1 Client was somehow installed without the OmniPage component.

Starting in Laserfiche 9.1, the installation package uses a separate folder for the OCR engine installation. When doing unattended/automated installations for the 9.1 and higher Client suite, be sure that the Client, OCR, and Support folders from the installation package are kept together.

This is resolved.  On the PC in question, OCR OmniPage had not been installed (or had been removed.)  Thanks to all for your help!
