We have a customer that does not want Weblink installed under the Default Web site in IIS. Is this possible? If so, how do you go about setting it up?

Answer
Yes, this is possible. After the installation completes, you can create a new web application for WebLink under a different web site in IIS. The instructions from this page can be used. For IIS 7 and higher, just use "Application" in place of "Virtual Directory". Once you've confirmed that the new web application works fine, feel free to remove the one under the default web site.

I have been working on moving WebLink to it's own virtual site and am still having errors. I see two questions on answers, but neither seem to help. The first one lists exactly what is going on with us, same error. The answer is that it can't be moved from Default Sites. The second Q&A results in the same error as the first.

The telling sign to me is with browsing enabled in IIS for the installation under default sites I can access all of the .aspx files, I can access about.aspx and calendar.aspx with the browse enabled on the site I created but all other .aspx pages result in the error in the Q&A linked.
The fact that I can access a few of the items, but not others makes me question if this is really possible.
Hi Leah,
This is possible as many organizations that use WebLink have successfully implemented this.
Please see this video for a quick tutorial of how to accomplish this. If you require more direct assistance, you can contact your Laserfiche reseller.

This is great news! Unfortunately I am still getting the errors and the new site doesn't show up in the admin console. I have done exactly what you suggested. Can you attach what the News Sites' settings are? Do they need to be directed to the copy of the web files folder? I think that might be where the trouble is? I have attached a screen shot of what I am referring to.
I just created a new folder off the root of C called "NewSite" and when I created a new web site in IIS, pointed to that folder, C:\NewSite. All other settings were left the default. Then I created a new web application for WebLink (NewWebLink8 in the video) and pointed that to a copy of the Web Files folder that I had made (Web Files 2 in the video).
In my scenario, NewSite really isn't anything special and isn't used for more than just a generic placeholder of a web site which is accessed using localhost and its http port binding (81).
Getting closer...we don't have windows authentication on our IIS at this time but I am using the main admin login. Do I need to be using the IUSER account for the app? I am getting "There is an error determining the Laserfiche server Version, make sure it is 8.2 or higher."..we have 9.0
You may get that error message in a Rio environment, but you should be able to ignore it. You can disregard the Windows Authentication setting in IIS if users will be entering a Laserfiche username and password. Using the IUSR account for anonymous authentication in IIS should be ok.
We are up an running out of the default site, thank you so much for your help!!!
That's great. Glad we could help.
Leah, you mentioned
The answer is that it can't be moved from Default Sites. The second Q&A results in the same error as the first.

and I wanted to make a clarification. What Brian is saying there is that WebLink must be in a Virtual Directory. However, the WebLink Virtual Directory can be under a Website other than the Default Website (and it sounds like you have that part figured out!).
