excel output always as a text?

I am trying to have workflow output some information to an excel file.  It looks like workflow is converting numbers field to a text field when outputting to an excel file.  Is this be design or is it a workflow bug?

Can you give an example of what exactly is going wrong?

In column F4 and F5 are set as Number Type field under excel.  Upon having workflow write to these fields, excel show that the input as a text type.  Please see image below for more details.

Needs to manually convert to Number.

This is a limitation in the ODBC driver. See this duplicate thread for more information.
