Question

Invalid Field Entry QF Documents

asked on December 17, 2014

In a Quickfields (QF) session, if a value obtained via ZOCR for the template field is not in the dropdown list of values for the template field, we see the exclamation point in the orange dot.  If an operator is running/monitoring the session, the correct value can be determined and placed in the field and the document can be saved.

But what happens if the session is launched by Quickfields Agent (QFA)?  The document is identified so it won’t go into the unidentified pool and since the field value is incorrect, it will not be stored with other documents.

What happens to the documents that have field errors?  Does the session end for lack of activity?

If QFA is instructed to start this session every hour and there is an invalid document or documents in the current session, what happens when it is time to start the session again and the current one is still waiting to clear the invalid documents?

What is the best way to handle unattended QF sessions that have errors?

Thanks in advance.

The documents that have field errors will not be stored. You can view Storage Errors in the instance history summary, and then manually re-scan those documents. Just like if you ran it manually, the session doesn't end when there's a field error - it will continue and store the rest of the documents.

One option is to get rid of the field constraint so that all the documents get stored by QFA, and then do revision from the LF client. However, if you want to keep the field constraint or need the documents to be correct as soon as they're stored, then using the Agent may not be the best choice for these documents.

If this is a Rio or Avante system, then you could use QF to fill a temp Template and then use Workflow (WF) to check the values.  If/when WF finds a value out of range, it can route the document to a review person.  Otherwise, WF can apply correct Template with supplied values and file the document.
