Tokens in Microsoft Excel

Today, I learned how to use tokens in an MS Word document, however, the person requesting this ability wanted it in an Excel document.  It appears Excel doesn't have this option...?.  Could someone confirm? 

Here is what I see in Word (I see the place on the LF tab where I can pick a token to use in the document):

Hi Connie,

This feature is currently only available in Microsoft Word. Please refer to this help page for more information. However, we do have an enhancement request filed to bring this feature into the other Microsoft Office applications.

There isn't an ETA for this unfortunately. Part of the reason is because the current implementation of the feature requires a bit of native support in the office application itself so that's why it's only available in Microsoft Word for now. We are investigating the matter further though to see what can be done for the other Office applications.

Hi Connie,

Would you like to share how you want to use the tokens? It can be helpful to estimate. Microsoft Word supports refreshing the tokens, that is, when the token value is changed, people can refresh to reflect the changes. I am afraid it is hard for Microsoft Excel. However, if you only want to insert the token values, it makes things easier.

Use is just a simple file path in the footer of a document.  If you have a hard copy in your hand and decide you want to find the electronic version, it can be handy to look in the footer and see exactly where it was when it was printed. 

We don't use this on all documents; only on critical ones that are more obscure and want a way to quickly find them when needed.  It's usually budget planning support documents being revised before going to Council for approve.  They are often Excel spreadsheets.
