IT and Records Management in Love?

posted on December 15, 2014 Show version history

At Empower 2015, I'll be moderating a panel that discusses the symbiotic relationship of IT and Records and Information Management (RIM). Mike Padykula, panelist and CRM, shared a LinkedIn post that highlights the importance of IT and RIM.

The article states "IT and RIM need to approach stakeholders with a joint message; “Your stuff needs managing and governing and we’re the team to do it for you.” Read the full article here.

How have you been successful at integrating these two groups?

I agree strongly with Christian Walker's basic case and it is artfully stated.

However, the R in RIM has to stay in the mix. The R is what links the content to the regulatory and legal environment. For instance, discovery is aimed at obtaining records of enterprise activity and communication.

Capturing or creating content creates the history of business activity so the record dimension will always be there.

Just my opinion…

Mike
