Adobe Annotations Disabled for PDF in Electronic File Pane

asked on December 9, 2014

I am using the Laserfiche Document Viewer to view PDFs in the Electronic File pane. Sometimes the buttons to add Adobe annotations such as sticky notes or highlighting are disabled and other times they are not. This can differ even on the same document where they were enabled earlier in the day but not later. I have been messing around a lot with my default settings as I create some documentation for my users. My current settings under Tools-> Options -> View -> Open With are: Open PDF Files by Default Using the Laserfiche Document Viewer and I have checked the checkbox for Show PDF files in the Electronic File Pane.

I am also noticing that the Adobe Toolbar is not always there by default and I am having to click the Show Acrobat Toolbar button that appears when I hover over the bottom of the document. This is also not consistent and seems to be tied to the disabled buttons. When the toolbar is already there, the buttons are enabled. When I have to tell it to show the toolbar, they are not. (I think .. not able to duplicate it easily enough to test for sure.)

What could be causing this to work sometimes and not others?

What version of the client are you running?

We are running version 9.0.2.685 of the Laserfiche client and version 10.1.12 of Adobe Acrobat.

Can you open a case with your VAR and give him a copy of your PDF file? This way we can test it with the version you are on and with 9.2 to see if it occurs there. There have been issues with PDFs in the past that are fixed in 9.2.

Raymond,

My VAR tested with 9.2 and it did not resolve the issue.

Are your annotation buttons enabled when you test on your side?

Please open a case with your VAR and provide a copy of the PDF so we can test it internally.

Yes but my understanding is we do not have a copy of the PDF yet.  Please provide one.

Looks like a PDF was uploaded to the case on the 12th. Not sure what file you don't have. We'll get the additional file you requested uploaded as well.

I have asked my VAR to submit one via the regular channels but here is one for testing that also does not work.
