Feature Request: Management Reports

asked on December 8, 2014

In Forms it would be very useful to have reports that would be used from a management perspective. For instance, a report that would show at what tasks bottlenecks are occurring in a specific Forms process so that they can be addressed more easily. I would envision this report to have a funnel chart on it that would break down a processes tasks by average time at each task or could be switched to show current number of instances at current tasks. Then by selecting a task section from the funnel chart, it would take you to a detailed report for that task.

Some other report ideas would be the following:

  • Active instances per task
  • Active users per task
  • Top instance creators
  • Top used processes (this can currently be done by sorting on the manage page)
  • Process history users per task (would be used to show at multi-step tasks who is completing the most instances)
  • Terminated instances across processes (I already put in a request for this one)

Forms team is working on process performance related reports for the next release, your ideas are very helpful to us!

Who in your organization will be viewing those reports? What types of reports will be most useful to them respectively?

That's great to hear!

The people that will be viewing those reports would differ depending on the form. So for our HR/Finance forms, our HR director and their assistant would want to look at the top creators, instances per task, terminated instances, and bottlenecks. I would think that almost every administrative type person would want to look at bottlenecks for processes they are involved with as well as IT so we can figure out how to alleviate them.

It would also be really nice if we can assign access to a report to a participant user. We have a lot of users that only have a participant license because they only access Forms and not Laserfiche, so paying several hundred more dollars for them to view a report is a bit much.

Thank you for the detail information! We will certainly take your use case into consideration during our design :)

I second this.  We need management reports to track bottlenecks and narrow filters by defined variables on the form.  For example if a variable is Department, then I need a filter by that department and by user to show turnaround times for those departments users in a process to identify and remedy bottlenecks.
