Question

PDF to TIFF Conversion

asked on December 8, 2014 Show version history

Hi,

We receive about 5000 pdf documents every day. We want to have tiff images generated for each of these pdfs. Also, if feasible, PDF and Tiff should be stored separately but still there must be a link between those two.

I am trying to achieve this using Quick Fields Agent. Is this method recommended? Are there any other ways that works more reliably ?

I could not find any workflow activity for page generation on creation of an electronic document. Is such feature available?

Regards,

Srikanth

There currently is not an "out of the box" workflow activity to convert PDF to TIFF.  You can create a SDK Script activity to convert the PDF for you, but you need to do a bit of research and know a little about programming to do so.

If you decide to create your own conversion workflow, you will probably want to set up a separate Workflow server to handle this task to prevent it from adversely affecting other workflows.  If you search the Laserfiche support site, you should be able to find examples of how to convert a PDF to TIFF.

Thank you Bert. Which settings should I choose in Scan Source settings for "Laserfiche Capture Engine" to ensure that the pdf entry which is already created will have laserfiche pages generated for the same entryid.

Currently, though I am able to generate pages, it is creating a totally new entry with different EntryID that has both original pdf and tiff.

We want laserfiche pages generated on the same original pdf entry
