Question

Filling template fields from the database in quick fields

asked on December 4, 2014

Hi ,

I have this use case where the quick fields session classifies documents. And there are about 70 categories of documents. We wanted to fill a particular template field which picks up possible values from a list in the database. How will this be possible. I cannot seem to use dynamic fields with this. Any other work around?

Thanks!

The field lookup feature has this functionality. Whether it is available or not would depend on the add-ons you have.

Thanks Miruna!

Looks like we do have that add-on. So for each of the document classes, I will have to configure this separately? I have 70 of them almost and would increase in the future. Nothing can be applied to the template at once?

No, they're per document class since different classes can have different templates. But you can copy an existing document class when you need to add a new one.

Hi Miruna,

I am trying to set up field look up , but I need it to pick up values from the database even before I start scanning documents. Like I need to configure the fields initially , but the values should be populated from the database. How can I do this?
