Question

I get errors since server name change : Operation expired [784]

asked on December 2, 2014

Hello,

I have a server with LF installed (LF server, Quick Fields, Console administration, LF Client, Workflow administration and Workflow designer). After the Laserfiche installation another person in the enterprise has changed the Computer name.

Since that, I have errors (Operation expired [784]) when I try to connect on Workflow's app, Quick Fields, Console administration, LF Client with localhost. I've used the Workflow Configuration Manager : the workflow server state was "Not configured", so I did it again and now I can connect to WF Administration and designer. But I still cannot connect on the other LF soft because I don't know how to configure it.

Is someone already been in this situation ? Can someone help me to fix it, please ?

Regards.

Hi Moana,

If SQL is installed on the same server then you will need to update the DBMS connection. This contains the server name.

Hope this helps!

You need to take care of the issue with the LF client and the server first.  If you cannot connect to the LF server, nothing else will work.

Does the LF client and server work? Are you able to login and view documents? if not, what do you currently get?

Have you tried to simply unregister the repository manually? If not, please follow this article and delete the registry keys: https://support.laserfiche.com/KB/1011998

Once those keys are deleted, restart the LF server, open the admin console and go through the steps in registering the repository. You can find instructions here.

Thank you for your answers.

Chris : yes SQL Server is on the same server than Laserfiche but how can I do that ? For now, I use management studio to consult DB. It use the Windows authentication and I've already change the "Server name" field value. Is there anything else to do ?

Raymond : I am not able to connect to the client, I get an error "Operation expired [784]". If I unregister the repository manually would I need to follow some steps to save and restore it after I've register it again or will this be automatic ?

Please follow those directions starting with manually unregistering the repository. Then register it back using the steps I pointed out. It will not be automatic.

Note, at this point you do NOT have to touch SQL.  You only have to make sure that your LF server service is running with an account that has full SQL rights and that the SQL db used by LF is attached to the SQL instance. Do not do anything else at this point.  IF the SQL instance is in the same machine, the LF server service can use Local System.  If it is not, then you have to change the account.

Hi Moana,

Sounds like the SQL DB server name will need updating if this has changed. Open the Laserfiche admin console and right click your repository. From there go to All Tasks>Change DBMS connection

From here you can update the server name where LF looks for the database. Update the below where SERVERNAME is the name of your server. You will probably see the old server name there and know what to update.

You will probably need to re-start the Laserfiche Server Service after selecting OK (or re-boot the server, whichever is easier).

Hope this helps! smileyyes

If the servername has been changed already, then you cannot even connect to it using the LF Admin console at this point. The client already cannot connect.  The Admin console will not be able to either, so changing the DBMS connection can't occur.
