Question

server encountered an error when trying to create or attach the repository

asked on November 27, 2014

Hi

When using the LaserFiche Repository Creation Wizard we are encountering the error "server encountered an error when trying to create or attach the repository".

We are using version 9.1.  The SQL server is being recognized by the wizard.  But the final step of creating the new repository won't run and gives us the error.  We are positive LaserFiche has access to create databases on the SQL server.

Can anyone help?

Hi Kathy,

Are you using Windows authentication or SQL authentication to connect to SQL server? What account is LF server service account logged on as? Is SQL server installed on the same machine as LF server?

Please double check if LF server service account has sufficient permissions to SQL server.

Thank you, that answers my question.  We are using Windows authentication and had not given that account sufficient permissions on SQL Server.

For anyone reading this, on the LaserFiche support site we found that

"To create a database, the specified SQL Server login or Directory Server service account must have sufficient permissions in the specified SQL Server instance to:

  • Create databases
  • Create stored procedures
  • Create tables"
  •

Thank you Xiaoxiao for your help.
