Question

find what group is setting "read only" for user

asked on November 26, 2014

We switched from conncurrent to named users. So in the past we had set some groups to "read only" to use our read only CAL's.

Now we are on named and some users are still getting (read only) when logging into client. Is there any easy way of finding in what group that is being set since it could be in a group of a group of a group. Something like effective permissions? I have looked all the places I can think of but its still being set somewhere.

There is user interface that you can check where the user inherit the read-only access right from right now.

If the user is a Laserfiche user and you have Web Administration Console, you can go to the groups tab and check the groups and inherited groups for the user and check whether one of these groups has been marked as read-only.

If the user is Windows user or LDAP user, I think you need to check from active domain which groups the user belong to and check whether one these groups has been marked as read-only.

I had the same problem... a user was a named user and when he logged in he was "read only". Turned out he was in two groups that were "read only" groups so that over rode his names user status.
