Question

Pages are missing from the indexed document

asked on November 25, 2014 Show version history

Document was being sent between departments using the workflow. In between steps document became blank. Attached image shows the event_type 40 which is for moving pages. But the user is saying she doesn't know how to move pages or hasn't done that in the past. Nothing is abnormal in workflow history. Any idea why pages will go missing? They are not in recycle bin and I didn't see a delete event in audit history.

Thanks.

If you're querying the page_events view directly, it should also show you the destination of where the page got moved to. See below for an example of what gets reported when page 3 of the source document gets moved and becomes the new page 1 of the destination document.

As for how the user could have moved the pages, it could be done by selecting a page from the source document and cutting/pasting into a new document or perhaps the user had two documents open and dragged a page from one to the other.

they have any of the settings found in the client at the following location disabled?

Tools>>Options>>Reset>>Prompts

Maybe you should see if they have "Move / Copy / shortcut" disabled and re-enable it for them and see if maybe they are accidentally moving the pages. Also, you might want to see if "Page Delete" is also disabled

Thank you! I forgot all about dest_entry_name field. I could find and move pages back to original document.

Kenneth, I checked settings for user to avoid this from happening in future. Thanks.
