Question

Bulk Tagging

asked on November 13, 2014

Can you only apply tags to a few documents at a time?

I ran a search and wanted to tag all my results. I highlighted all of them and followed the tagging procedure:

tasks - view tags - from here it would not let me select a tag to apply, but if I select only a few of the documents then I am able to tag them.

Thanks,

Andrea

In that case, one or more of the documents must be read-only. Possible reasons include being on a readonly volume, being checked out by another user, being a frozen record and not having the "Write Metadata" access right.

I think what you're seeing is that when you click on one of the tag checkboxes, the dialog is freezing up while the client locks all of the documents. It works for me with a search result of 5000 documents, it just takes some time to lock them all.

But it does not even show me the tag checkboxes...just grayed out tags.

Thanks Robert!

I have been reading about the "Write Medadata" access right and believe that this is the issue.
