Forms User Display Name Change, best way?

posted on November 11, 2014 Show version history

I have a client that is wanting to have full names in the Action history for their forms. Now I understand this comes from the Active Directory, initially, but if we have the client change the display names in the Active directory, will current users have the new display name brought in within a few hours?

I want to make the best recommendation and I know we have configured some Find User activities within Workflow that may be affected, so I was wondering if we will have to change it in multiple places or just one place to get the changes to be 100% effective and not affect anything.

I did not find anything about this in the Help files, your help would be appreciated though.

Hi there,

Forms gets the Full Name (Name attribute, not DisplayName attribute) from Active Directory during synchronization.

User synchronization frequency is based on your configuration in formsconfig.

I cannot seem to mark you as the answer, but thanks for the help.

The reason for not being able to mark Abby's response as an answer is because this is a discussion thread and not a question thread. Only questions can have a response marked as an answer.

What is the Active Directory attribute it pulls this information from?

We have a client that is saying the Display Names are proper in the Active Directory, but that the names in forms and in WF for that user are not for some and for others it is. We are trying to get all there users to have the proper names so we need to find the proper attribute for them to change

Forms uses the Name attribute, not the Display Name.

Can anyone from Laserfiche get back to me about this?
