Question

Batch number token in QuickFields

asked on November 10, 2014

Hello,

is there any way to use a "Batch Number" token in a Quickfields session, so that i can know in which batch each document was processed?

My case is that I'm runing a QF session in batches of documents, but sometimes it fails in the middle. In those cases it is easier for me to reprocess the full batch, but it is hard to identify all the documents that were processed in that specific session run. If i have a "Batch identifier" that I can use as a token, i can store the processed documents to a subfolder and select them all to re-process them again.

Thank you for your help.

Best regards,

Sorry, there is no way to get a token for the Batch Number.

However, unless you need to run these sessions unattended, you should be able to use the Document Revision pane to check the batch before anything is stored in Laserfiche. Then, if you find an error anywhere in the batch, you can re-scan that batch without ever leaving Quick Fields. Does that work for you?

Thank you Tessa for your reply,

Unfortunately your workaround does not  work because QF will move the original files to their destination folder (or delete them, if you are so confident with the process) BEFORE you make the revision. In addition, during the process, QF loads a bunch of images "in memory" so they are not in the source folder, nor in the destination one (I havent found their temporary location yet), which makes quite difficult to correct a session when something goes wrong.

If this tokes does not exist, is there any possibility of adding it in the next version of QF?

Thanks again and best regards,

I'm not sure how a token would work since you are breaking up the original document and the token would be generated in Quick Fields after the document has been retrieved from Laserfiche.

However, Capture Engine does give you the name and path of the original document. You could store that into a field or add it to the processed documents as an annotation.

Thank you.

Just consider it, please, as a wished feature for future releases, if possible.

Thanks again,
