Question

Laserfiche Forms

asked on November 10, 2014

Is there anyway to remove the goofy new inbox feature of Forms 9.2? Currently I do not need to see all the details of a single form, I just need my people to see the form, fill it out, and close the page.

Now it s a huge, confusing process that has hindered operations in my hiring department and is causing us to have to use paper applications because of the amount of work required to get a single person ready to fill out a form.

Not sure if this will work for you, but why don't you just send the users a link directly to the form they need to fill out? Or create a small home page with links to several forms if they need access to more than one. Each process has a unique URL which you can find on the "Publish" tab. It's usually of the form "http://your_forms_server/Forms/XXXXX"

Hey Curtis,

As Scott explained, there are several different methods that you can allow users to access forms, but I'm slightly confused as to exactly what about the Inbox is hindering your users.  I'd love to get some feedback about exactly what can be changed to make the product as user-friendly as possible.

The inbox was designed to give a full comprehensive view of the tasks in order to give the task participants (or users who need to fill out the forms) all the information they need to make educated and well-informed decisions.  I'm sorry to hear that this change has led to problems, but if you can go into a bit more detail about what problems you're having, I'd be happy to offer alternative views or methods for your users to complete their tasks.

When I use the link from the "Published" page, it forces a log in.

Hey Curtis,

I'm assuming that the form should be accessible for public users (i.e. users who don't need to login)?

Do you have the Public radio button selected on the Business Process' Access Rights page?

I am going to assume that I need LF Forms Portal.

So again, Laserfiche continues to push expensive licenses. Another change to force me to spend $9600 on Portal in order to continue to use the system as I need it, and take away the option in which I was working perfectly. I love laserfiche, but I literally hate how they have forced the program to be so expensive, that I may end up developing another solution to use for my company, because we (a medium sized company) cannot afford to spend up to $10k every other month on licenses and or an add on to make it work how we need it.

Hey Curtis,

I didn't know you didn't have the Forms Public Portal!  My apologies!

You don't NEED the public portal unless you want users to be able to anonymously submit forms.  Without the Forms Public Portal, users will need to log in to be able to submit forms.

Exactly, and the new inbox interface is cumbersome, and the users I speak of are not office employee's they are applicants for field positions. See the attached picture, this is what 9.1 looks like and was much easier to navigate.

Hey Curtis,

The view in Forms 9.2 doesn't really look all that different from the one in 9.1 (see the attached picture).  To get to this view, you simply need to click on "Start Process" from the inbox page.

Yes, I did see it that way, but when I start the process, I do not want to see all the clutter around the form. My process that is needed is simple. Start, fill out, submit. Not start, start, find the button to make the application bigger, still have a lot of garbage on the top of the screen, submit, then repeat the above steps. Sorry I cannot show screen shots of what I am talking about, and the reason for that is because I rolled back to 9.1. Everyone is HR is happy again.

On another note, a decision to scrap the Laserfiche project was made today, largely influenced by myself. We are into the program $30k+, and with the changes made, Laserfiche has found another way to pull more money out of current users by changing things up that worked fine before. I feel that supporting this kind of greed is not in the best intrest of my company.

Hey Curtis,

I'm really sorry to hear that you're not happy with Laserfiche.  I'm going to follow up with some folks internally and see if there's anything we can do further support your installation.

If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to update this thread or create a new one and I'll do my best to help however I can.
