License Manager Activation Fails - Error 984

Hi All,

 

One of our customers is experiencing the issue whereby the LM fails to activate.

Activation log shows

 

Product activation failed; please contact Laserfiche Support for assistance. (Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel with authority 'activation.laserfiche.com'.)(984)

 

Tool exited with status code: -2.(984)

 

I've look on the LF support site but error 984 doesn't seem to exist. Can anyone from Laserfiche please comment on more information relating to error 984.

GoDaddy is, among other things, a certificate provider. The call to GoDaddy is most likely a call to verify the authenticity of the SSL certificate, as describe in the GoDaddy help files. The specific IP you mentioned, 72.167.18.237, is listed as a potential CRL server.

Seems opening up port 80 on the firewall resolved this for now.

 

We see the server trying to communicate with Activation.Laserfiche.com (72.37.217.164) on port 443 which didn't work initially. Once we opened up port 80 it activated OK but we also see it trying to communicate with 72.167.18.237 which seems to be godaddy.com. Can anyone from LF explain this?

So 'most likely' something has changed in the activation process?
We never had this problem before, and suddenly now we do.
 

Just to get some clarification;

For customers using a firewall....which ports to which servers need to be open to be able to successfully activate a License on / add a Master License to a Laserfiche License Manager Server?

You actually do not even need to open up your network if all you want to do is activate or reactivate.  You can keep your network closed, use a machine that is outside of your network and use the Offline activation instructions found here: https://support.laserfiche.com/KB/1012198.  These instructions are good for both LF8 and 9 products.

You can also have your VAR do it for you from their office and send you the license file.
