Question

Locating information in middle of document

asked on November 6, 2014

I have a question about how to pull information from the middle of documents with quick fields.  I have designed a session that pulls almost all of the information I need from the front page of my documents, but must pull information for one more filed from the middle (and the page number fluctuates).  Any ideas?

To get the information in the middle pages, you can give those processes a page range that will always contain the desired middle page. For example, you could create a Pattern Matching process and have it find the first match found in pages 2 through 5.

Mary,

Does the page from which you need to pull the desired field have any unique identification? If yes, then you can use zone OCR to identify the page and create a pattern match for that particular page.

I hope this helps.

I can locate the information using Zone OCR and regular OCR Processes (not at the same time, just wanted to see if I could pull the information), but once the pattern is matched it does not populate the field.  It looks like it continues to the next page; thus, erasing the correct information.   I must have a setting wrong.  Any idea what it could be?  I've been playing with the settings, but haven't figured it out.  I do have the pattern matching token in the correct field.

Mary,

Does your session pull any information next to the token in the Output pane? For Example: 'Token Name: xyz'

If no, then your Token might not be configured properly to extract the correct information.

If yes, then please check if you are using the same token to pull some other information. There is also an option where you can mark fields using the same token as invalid if the input value returns no matches.

I was able to get this to work.  I ended up altering the settings within the options menu.  Unfortunately, I am unsure which setting made the difference, but it worked.
