Question

Question

Paste option gets disabled sometimes

asked on November 6, 2014 Show version history

We have a User called TestUser25.

This user is a part of group called ScanningGroup.

Rights for scanning group (in LF Admin Console) are: Scan, Import, Search, Move Entry, Extended Properties and Delete.

In LF repository, the 'Access Rights' for the ScanningGroup at the folder (where we are try to copy a document and paste it in the same folder) are: Allow All.

User makes a copy of a document and paste it in the folder mentioned above but sometimes the paste button becomes grey/disabled and user has to logout and log back in to the repository and then the paste options gets enabled. This happens randomly and there is not specific sequence/pattern involved.

We have experienced this in multiple folders with multiple documents.

Any ideas as what's happening?

I think the version discrepancy is unlikely to be the problem, but both versions that you listed were affected by the copy/paste bug.  If you can, I'd recommend upgrading to 9.2, where the problem is fixed.

If you're not able to upgrade, there are some things you can try to avoid. Apparently, the bug usually shows up if you use ctrl+c to copy rather than use the edit menu, and it can also be caused if you attempt to drag and drop a file after copying a document to the clipboard (whether or not you actually complete the drag/drop).

Again, the issue is completely resolved in 9.2, and the upgrade process is quick and painless.

Hi Uzair,

What version of Laserfiche are you currently using?  There was a copy/paste issue that affected some versions of 9.0 and 9.1, which you may be running into.  If you're not currently using 9.2, I would recommend an update.

Hi Brett,

I have just checked.

LF Server: 9.1.1.486

LF Client:   9.1.0.413

Could the issue be that the server has a different version then the client?

Thanks Brett.

We are actually using right click => Copy and right click => Paste, and experiencing this issue.

I might say that we would wait until a 9.2.x release comes out before upgrading it to 9.2.

Anyways, thanks for your help.
