Question

Opening a PDF in Web Access 9.2

asked on November 6, 2014

We are busy testing the new functionality of Web Access 9.2. One of the new features is meant ot be the following:

"Web Access now supports opening a PDF directly in a new browser tab."

I would like to confirm the understanding of the above statement.

  1. does it mean that when opening a PDF document that does not have generated pages, will now open inside the Web Client as a new Tab showing the Metadata etc like a normal Image would?
  2. Or does this mean the PDF opens in a completely new Browser Tab outside the client? almost like adding a new tab to go to a different web page.

The reason I ask is that my assumption was the intended application was to be as described in point 1, however we are experiencing the behaviour to be that of point 2.

For Web Access 9.2, the functionality is intended to behave as in your case 2. PDFs will open in a separate browser tab, not in the Web Access client.

Hi Aaron,

Is there ever going to be a feature that allows the PDF to open and view inside the Web Client, the same way it works for the LF Client? It's preferrable to have the PDF viewed inside the Web Client, where metadata can easily be edited, as opposed to switching between windows/tabs.

Thanks

Sheldon
